New Terrazzo Textures
Introducing a new line of Terrazzo textures for archviz.
Terrazzo has seen a recent resurgence in the world of architecture. With the use of epoxy resin as the binding material, and the option of utilizing recycled aggregate, it has become a versatile material used across a vastness of scenarios including floors, counters, splash backs and product design.
Even with this boost in popularity, we noticed a distinct lack of quality, Terrazzo textures available on the market. Since it’s such a wide-ranging, customizable material, finding existing textures to match your exact needs can be difficult and time-consuming.
So, we built a generator that allows you to create any Terrazzo material you can dream up.
The specs:
Flexible layout options for slab, tiles and ‘in situ’ material modes
Cement and epoxy binders with various colors
Standard, Venetian or Palladiana categories
Two levels of unique controls for chips with a wide range of logical parameters, including shape, color, style and material (Marble or Glass)
Presets available for time-sensitive projects
Highly customizable
As with all of our generators, we aim to provide you with one powerful file that can create a huge range of variants for a particular material type, rather than having to download lots of similar files with a few differences.
So, our new Terrazzo generator provides advanced controls with all the necessary parameters to enable you to match nearly any Terrazzo reference you need for a project. Ensuring we’ve provided materials that are fully scalable, there’s no need to download multiple files; you can switch between slabs or tiles with a single button.
Limited for time? It also comes with a variety of inspiring, trending presets for ease of use and time efficiency, that can be dropped straight into any scene knowing that they will tile and work instantly.
‘Real-world’ workability
Our Terrazzo assets are inspired by real-life designs, meticulously designed to ensure a seamless transition between specification, to visualization, to real world installations.
We did thorough research into the range of options on the market, as well as different manufacturing processes involved, to keep all the parameters logical and relevant.
We then used this information to make a material that reaches far further than other generators on the market, using real-world units to take away the guesswork when working to specification.
How to use the Terrazzo Generator
For all Poliigon Generators, we recommend using the Substance plugins if supported, or the free Substance Player app if you use Blender. The exported textures can then be imported and set up in your software of choice, using Poliigon’s material converters.
The SBSAR format of our generators can also be used in Substance Designer and Substance Painter; however, it’s not generally recommended for use in Painter, due to the complexity of our generators. There are also various plugins for integrating SBSARs directly into different software, but they’re often not kept up to date, so we can’t guarantee compatibility.
